Change in Creative Ballet Schedule!

We will hold class Tuesday May 20th and Saturday May 24th. Session Five will only include Saturday classes- no Tuesday classes- and begins on Saturday, June 14th. Session Six is Cancelled! Please check back in August for the new Creative Ballet schedule for 2008/2009! Also, please note the typo in the Creative Ballet brochure- Session five classes for 3 and 4-year-olds begin at 9:45am on Saturday. Thank you for your patience!

Open Class Cancelled - Sunday, May 25

There will be no Open Adult Ballet classes on Sunday, May 25th so we may have a full holiday weekend to spruce up the studio in preparation for our Spring performances. Any volunteers interested in assisting may contact Jason at jason@theportlandballet.org.

Help us to have live music for La Boutique Fantasque!
PLEDGE DRIVE

We have been hoping for some time to partner with a pre-professional symphony for La Boutique Fantasque and are currently in negotiations with the Portland State University Symphony Orchestra to perform the music for this year's production.  However, the challenge we face is that while the Rossini/Respighi score is in the public domain (meaning that there are no royalties to pay), the work is written for a full 100-piece symphony orchestra.  The orchestra pit at the Newmark Theatre only seats 35, so the score will need to be re-written to accommodate a smaller number of musicians.  A dear friend and musical director for the Los Angeles Ballet, Dr. Clyde Allen, has generously agreed to create the new arrangement for TPB for a very reasonable fee of $10,000.  An arrangement project such as this typically costs between $20,000-$40,000!  With this new opportunity in hand, we are continuing our pledge drive through June 2, as previously planned in the hope that we can raise the additional amount needed to contract with Dr. Allen for the new arrangement, which will add the finishing touch to our crown jewel production of La Boutique!

In order to make this happen, we need YOUR help.  Pledge any amount you can, and the payment of your generous donation can occur anytime before June 2.  If you or your business can make a matching pledge, that will help to get us to our goal twice as fast!  Click below for a pledge form or email TPB with your name, phone number, and pledge amount. Watch for a cumulative pledge drive count in TPB Lobby and on our website!
