SPRING CONCERTWelcome the Season with Romance And a Touch of Drama
The Portland Ballet’s Spring Concert will feature Balanchine’s windswept Valse-Fantaisie set to music by Mikhail Glinka and staged by former New York City Ballet principal dancer and choreographer John Clifford. The program also includes Anton Dolin’s Pas de Quatre a plotless ballet choreographed to celebrate the technical ability of four famous romantic era ballerinas. Artistic Director Nancy Davis has staged the piece after Mr. Dolin who set it on her while she was principal dancer with the Los Angeles Ballet. Adding drama to romance, Jason Davis The Portland Ballet’s Academy Principal will stage Petipa’s Black Swan Pas de Deux as well as excerpts from Le Corsaire. The program will close with a new classical work by The Portland Ballet’s resident choreographer Alexandrous Ballard set to music by Robert Schumann.
