The Portland Ballet Youth Company
THE PORTLAND BALLET is the Portland metro area's premier youth ballet Academy and Company. Founded in 2003 as the performance arm of the Academy, the Youth Company has performed classical ballets and other professional works by Marius Petipa, TPB Artistic Advisor John Clifford, Robert Guitron of Polaris Dance Theatre, Rachel Tess and Stephan Laks of Rumpus Room Dance Company, Alexandrous Ballard now ballet master at Alberta Ballet, TPB resident modern choreographer Josie Moseley, and from the Dennis Spaight Trust.
TPB has also been granted permission to perform works from The George Balanchine Trust, including Serenade, Valse-Fantasie, Raymonda Variations, and excerpts from Stars and Stripes and Who Cares? The Company, which includes Apprentices, is open by audition only to ballet dancers 14 years of age and older, with several years of ballet training. Girls must be proficient en pointe.
