Special Guest Teachers Video AuditionsVideo Audition fee $25 Video auditions are accepted for out-of-town students and students unable to attend an audition due to extenuating circumstances. Submit a VHS or DVD recorded after December 2012, a photo in first arabesque and the video audition fee. Include a full body close-up of the student stating their name. Girls should be in a black leotard, no skirt, and on pointe (if applicable), boys should wear a white t-shirt and black tights. The video must include the following steps and should be no more than 10 minutes in length: Barre (facing camera): pliés, tendu & degagé, fondue & developpé, and grand battements (ALL combinations front, side and back) Center: adagio, en dedans and en dehors pirouettes, petite and grand allegro Girls on pointe: echappé-passé combination, piqué turns from the corner Advanced boys: entrechat six, tour en l’air, turns in a la seconde Mail audition video to: (503) 452-8448 * info@theportlandballet.org |

The ProgramWhen looking for the right summer program, you face a critical decision. All summer ballet programs are not created equal. The right choice can make a quantum difference in the level of achievement gained during the precious summer months of intense training. The Portland Ballet offers the broadest, deepest, and most enriching ballet instruction in the region. It does so in an environment that is challenging and supportive, disciplined and rigorous, yet also safe, healthy, and nurturing. The best blend of teaching and curriculumTPB has assembled an unparalleled staff of teachers, all with distinguished professional dance experience. Their expertise and dedication are focused within a curriculum unmatched in the area for breadth, depth, and flexibility. TPB’s syllabus is based on the Russian Vaganova method of ballet mastery (the approach most famously taught and Americanized by George Balanchine) and includes the region’s only Men’s Ballet Program, with male teachers. In addition, the school is one of a handful across the US with a tie to The George Balanchine Trust, qualifying dancers for rare learning and performance opportunities. TPB’s summer program is designed to provide a concentrated experience with multiple teachers and choreographers. Fabulous visiting guest artists round-out the program by further expanding the curriculum and network connections in the ballet world. ScheduleThe program runs Monday through Saturday. Classes offered will include core/stretch, ballet technique, pointe, variations, men’s technique, partnering, modern, jazz, character as well as a lecture series including Music Appreciation. The last part of the day is spent in workshop rehearsals in preparation for the performance at the end of the program. TuitionSBI Tuition $1,200 After the audition and video audition deadline, TPB will mail out letters of acceptance. If you are accepted into TPB’s Summer Ballet Intensive, the following is a schedule of tuition payments. TUITION IS NON REFUNDABLE. Payments can be made in full or auto charged with a secure credit card number on the dates below: By April 2nd, 2012: Send full tuition amount or $100 non-refundable deposit, payable by check or money order, along with appropriate completed forms which will be mailed to you at the time of acceptance By May 14th, 2012: 1st payment of $550 will be charged to credit card (VISA or MC only) By June 11th, 2011: 2nd payment of $550 will be charged to credit card (VISA or MC only) Financial AssistanceIf you wish to apply for financial assistance, please call and request a Scholarship Application. Prior to review of your application, we must receive all the required tax forms listed on your Scholarship Application, your SBI paperwork mailed at the time of acceptance, and your deposit.
